The only thing that is unique to my situation is I was using a new hard drive that had been temporarily used for storage on XP system. Then, copy to the stick the BOOTMGR you can find on the Windows 7 laptop. Would that suffice? Sometimes for some reason my bios switches the hard drives up in boot settings.
